Beledo is now in the studio recording his new Hemispheres project after a very succesful concert at the Laurie Beechman Theatre (beneath theWest Bank Cafe) in New York City. This album will feature Mark Walker on drums, Andy Middleton on sax, Omar Kabir on trumpet, Chris Komer on french horn, David Finck on upright bass, and Jorge Camiruga on vibraphone.
"BELEDO is considered a real myth among Uruguayan music connoisseurs," according to EL PAIS newspaper from his home town of Montevideo, Uruguay. His work is also very well respected in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Piano was his first instrument, however, he became a guitar hero in his late teenage years. Later on, his fusion effort of the early eighties in South America gave him U.S. recognition in upcoming talents articles in "Guitar Player" magazine and "Jazziz" magazine.
Beledo is the musical director of "The Upside Down Boy", the current production of the New York theatre and arts education and organization "Making Books Sing".
Beledo's last album released in Uruguay, "Desde La Torre" contains Beledo's USA recording sessions in New York and Los Angeles. It features also other great musicians from both coasts: Jonathon Joseph (Dave Sanborn, Pat Metheny, Richard Bona, Nestor Torres) on drums, Mario Rodriguez (Gato Barbieri, Al Di Meola) on bass, Casey Scheuerell (Berklee instructor, Jean Luc Ponty, Gino Vanelli,) Kalani on vibes (Yanni), percussion, ANn Patterson on sax, David J. Carpenter on bass, Matt Otto on sax.
Home based in New York he can be seen playing with Safro-Jazz band OJOYO featuring saxophonist Morris Goldberg from the Rosie O'Donnell Show, drummer Anton Fig from the Late Show with David Letterman, and bassist Bakithi Kumalo from Paul Simon's "Graceland" album.
Beledo toured with the Tropical Tribute to the Beatles featuring Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Tito Nieves, Cheo Feliciano, and an all-star line up of Latin artists. This tour included Spain, Portugal, and Martinique with concerts in Madrid, Barcelona, Las Palmas, Valencia, La Coruña, Lisbon, and Fort de France.
While he was based in Los Angeles, Beledo attended the UCLA Certified Program for Film Scoring. Later, he co-produced music with Peter Aykroyd for the Warner Brothers film, "Nothing But Trouble starring Demi Moore, John Candy, Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase.
He attended the University School of Music in Uruguay and performed classical music recitals on the National Public Radio and in various theatres. He was also a founding member of the first Jazz Ensemble, sponsored by the conservatory in an effort to integrate jazz into the traditional curriculum.
Beledo has played with Pedro Aznar, Hugo Fattoruso, Gary Willis, Bill Berg, Joe Locke and Stefon Harris.
